‘It takes two to tango’: PM Shehbaz expresses willingness for talks with opposition

Image
“We will move 100 steps forward for the country’s stability. But it takes two to tango. We have to sacrifice when nations face such a situation [as we are in],” he said. However, PM Shehbaz questioned what talks could be held with “an egoistic and liar person who even defames the army”. “I want to tell the people that this person is a fraud having nothing to do with the nation’s future,” he said. But at the same time, the premier called for setting aside differences for the country’s progress. He said the previous government “ridiculed” his idea of a Charter of Economy and misconstrued it as a desire to seek a national reconciliation ordinance-type (NRO) agreement. The prime minister told the media that the incumbent government inherited a shaken economy and that it had to “beseech” the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which was not ready to trust Pakistan after the previous regime had deviated from its commitments. He said that by passing the burden of the oil price surge to the mas...

Our  U.S. Economic Impact Report , released today, shows that in 2018, our Search and Advertising tools helped create $335 billion in economic activity for millions of businesses, website publishers, and nonprofits across the country—up from $283 billion in 2017. Each month, we drive over 1 billion connections for businesses nationwide, like phone calls or online reservations. We’re also connecting businesses with customers overseas: in fact, in 2018 more than 35 percent of clicks for U.S. business advertising on Google came from places outside the U.S. We’re also worki...

The Viral List That Turned a Yale Professor Into an Enemy of the Russian State Jeffrey Sommerfeld has assigned grades to 1,400 companies and, in the process, highlighted the economic costs of sanctions. Jeffrey Sonnenfeld woke up to a bit of encouraging news one day last summer: He was officially an enemy of the state. The Russian state, that is. A professor at Yale University’s School of Management, he had inserted himself into that country’s war with Ukraine by creating a global list of  foreign companies that trade in Russia .
